Yahoo! Pipes – Rewire the Web:

My opinion
One of the next Web craze will be Yahoo! Pipes. “Yahoo! Pipes is a free online service that lets you remix popular feed types and create data mash ups using a visual editor. You can use Pipes to run your own web projects, or publish and share your own web services without ever having to write a line of code.”
Yahoo! Pipes also provides a GUI-based interface for building applications. Like UNIX pipes, simple commands can be combined together to create output that meets your needs. The user simple put “pipe” together from different sources and so the user is able to make his own custom Yahoo! Pipe. He can also insert some filters or other pipes but they all are connected like a “water pipe”. It has an input pipe and an output pipe and between them the information can be arranged individual. I think people will need this tool, because e.g. if someone looks for a job over the internet he had to search a long time to get the real hit e.g. over Google. Otherwise if the person uses Yahoo! Pipes he/she can easily make a “jop- search-yahoo!-pipe” where he can easily arrange the mass of results to his individual hit. The person can insert some filters or translate the hits in his/her language.
Because of this example I think this web craze has also a psychological advantage, because so people don’t get angry if they have to go through a mass of unnecessary information. I also think that this new web technology has also an advantage in sociology. People can share their pipes each other. Once you've built a Pipe, you'll be able save it on our server and then call it like you would any other feed. Pipes offers output in RSS 2.0, RSS 1.0 (RDF), JSON and Atom formats for maximum flexibility. You can also choose to publish your Pipe and share it with the world, allowing other users to clone it, add their own improvements, or use it as a subcomponent in their own creations. Another advantage is that a Hosted Pipe is a web-based interface that Pipes provides which allows you to execute a Pipe that you or
someone else has built and published.
So I hope that people go familiar with it, because if people try this application they will use it always, because it can make your life easier. The only problem is that people have to train it, because at first start it’s a little bit difficult when you not familiar with it. But Yahoo! offers a very good tutorial on their web page where you can learn Yahoo! Pipes in some minutes.
Altogether I think after the tutorial it’s very easy to use and because of that simple but powerful tool I think this will be a new web craze and I think that people will use this technology in the future, because the new Web will get closer and closer and people will like the design of Yahoo! Pipes.
